Winter 2024 Session Registration is Open
Dates / Times
The season begins Sunday, January 7th, 2024 and runs through Sunday, March 10th, 2024. There will be no games on Sunday, January 14th or on Sunday, February 11th. All games will be played at either 3pm or 3:50pm.
All games will be played at the Detroit Skating Club, 888 Denison Ct, Bloomfield Twp, MI 48302, on Rink C.
The Winter 2024 Session will follow a team-based registration format. Players will register as part of an existing team, or may register as an individual who needs to be placed on an existing team. Games will consist of 2×20-minute running time periods. There will be a total of 7 regular session games plus 1 championship / consolation game. Teams must have at least 9 runners and 1 designated goalie to register. Player substitutions will not be allowed during the season. This is a co-ed league, and teams must have at least one woman on the ice at all times. For each game, each team must have a minimum of 5 runners plus a goalie (6 players total), and at least one of those players must be a woman. Failure to meet these requirements will result in the team forfeiting the game. If both teams fail to meet the requirements then the game shall be declared a draw.
Players are generally expected to provide their own equipment for each session. There may be a limited number of broomball sticks and broomball shoes available that may be provided to new players upon request. All participants will be required to provide their own hockey helmet with face mask, which must be worn at all times while on the ice. New players will be required to purchase a reversible Detroit Broomball jersey.
Additional recommended equipment to bring includes:
- Kneepads and shin pads OR hockey leg pads
- Elbow pads
- Hockey gloves OR utility gloves or similar
Broomball is a sport that involves some risk. As such all participants will be required to sign a waiver.
All players and teams must be registered by no later than Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024.
The Registration Fee for the Winter 2024 Session is $120 per player. The fee covers the cost of ice time for a total of seven regular session games plus 1 playoff game, applicable referee fees, payment gateway and bank fees, and helps support the club with a nominal budget for equipment and equipment maintenance.
